Cooperative Purchasing
What is Cooperative Purchasing?
Cooperative purchasing allows the City of San Angelo to join with other government agencies to buy goods and services at competitive prices. This approach saves time, reduces costs, and ensures compliance with procurement regulations.
How It Works
- The City of San Angelo partners with national and regional purchasing cooperatives.
- Vendors are selected through competitive bidding processes conducted by the respective purchasing cooperatives.
- Participating entities such as the City of San Angelo can purchase directly from awarded contracts via the purchasing cooperatives.
Current Purchasing Cooperatives
The City of San Angelo is a member of the following cooperatives:
- Buyboard
- Equalis Group
- General Services Administration (GSA)
- Houston-Galveston Area Council of Governments (HGAC)
- National Purchasing Partners (NPP)
- OMNIA (formerly National IPA, US Communities, TCPN)
- Sourcewell (formerly NJPA)
- Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR)
- Texas Multiple Award Schedule (TXMAS)
- The Interlocal Purchasing System (TIPS)
- TX Smart Buy
Local vendors are encouraged to apply for cooperative bids. Vendors must contact the purchasing cooperative directly to view potential opportunities. The City of San Angelo has no control on when or what type of bid the purchasing cooperatives will have available.
